Our Story
The Tilbury Bain & Bridges Catering is owned & operated by Tom & James Bainbridge. The duo has worked in the hospitality industry for a combined 23 years, bringing to the business a wealth of experience. Whilst Tom heads up all thing’s food, James takes control of service & with previous 3 Michelin star experience you can be confident you are in safe hands.
Since opening The Tilbury in Datchworth in 2014 & The White Hart in Welwyn Village in 2016, we have offered private catering through word of mouth with great success. In 2019 we decided to expand this side of the business further & set up The Tilbury Bain & Bridges Catering.
We offer a bespoke & personal service, catering small scale events to large weddings. With a dedicated & highly skilled team comprising of both chefs & front of house members we will ensure your event is full of flavoursome food & great service. One that your guests are sure to talk about in years to come!
Our Suppliers
We pride ourselves on working with some of our countries finest suppliers. With our meat supplied directly from Aubrey Allen Butchers, butcher to the royal household. We work closely with them in sourcing high quality & varying cuts of meat that can be tailored to your event. Our fish is sourced from Flying Fish in Cornwall who specialise in small day boat catches, delivering high quality produce.
Where possible we champion our local suppliers & were in fact Dawlicious Ice Cream, based in Hertford Heath, first commercial customer. Using their Bluegrass & Bluerock Jersey Cow milk the ice cream is deliciously creamy & thick with a vast range of flavours available. All of our cheese comes from award winning cheese shop The Cheese Plate in Buntingford, who offer an extensive range of both British & Continental cheeses, specialising in artisan cheeses. Finally, we wouldn’t be a catering company if we didn’t have a great wine supplier & this comes from James at Wine2Trade in Hertford. We work closely with him in curating exceptional wine pairings for your menu & event.
Our Venues
Both of our pubs are available for exclusive use, offering the perfect setting for your event.
Full use of the building can accommodate a sit down meal for up to 86 guests & for a more relaxed buffet style reception a maximum of 150 guests can be catered for. With three rooms, a bar area & large garden The Tilbury allows for great flexibility in creating your event.
THE TILBURY TIPI COCKTAIL BAR, DATCHWORTH
Our Tilbury Tipi is now a permanent feature of our summer offering & is available for exclusive use, alongside our large pub garden, from May till August. Accommodating 48 for a sit down meal or 100 standing it is the perfect setting for all of your summer celebrations.
Set in the heart of Welwyn Village, The White Hart offers a picturesque backdrop for your event. With a large bar, restaurant, & function room we can cater up to 40 guests for a sit down meal & 70 standing. Then after a long day or night of celebrating our 13 bedroom hotel offers the perfect place to rest your head.
